Abstract

1,115,862. Transformers. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 1 June, 1965 [4 March, 1964], No. 9099/64. Heading H1T. An oil-immersed three-phase transformer having laminated vertical core limbs 12, yokes 11, windings (13), 14 and clamps 15, 16 has the leakage flux diverted from ports 12, 15 and tank 18 by plate-like flux diverters such as 21A, 22A, 23A, 24A, 28A, 29A, each diverter comprising a plurality of packets of magnetic laminations disposed side by side with their laminations edge to edge to reduce eddy currents, the lamination planes being parallel to the direction of flux flow therethrough and normal to flux flow as it enters and leaves the divertor. In Fig. 3, vertical divertors 21A are provided on opposite sides of each limb 12, horizontal pairs of divertors 22A, 23A and curved divertors 24A are provided at each end of the windings. Divertors 21A on one side of limbs 12 may be interconnected by horizontal ports. Divertors 22A, 23A may be interconnected to extend across all the limbs. Divertors 21A may comprise two vertically spaced sections. In Figs. 6, the divertors comprise members 22A, 23A and horizontal end members 28A, and vertical members 29A adjacent the tank walls 18 which may be interconnected by horizontal ports.
