Abstract
A superconductor transformer, which may be three-phase, having superconductor windings 1, 2 is provided with a superconductor core comprising open turns 3 disposed within axial cavities in the windings and outside the windings adjacent their ends so as to bound the main flux path, the turns 3 being interconnected in parallel and there being no iron core. The open turns may embrace the frame members 5, 6, 7 which interconnect them more than once as shown at 8. The frame members are superconductive in use of the transformer.
