Abstract

111,554. Riviere, A. D., and Soc. Centrale d'Entreprises A. D. Riviere et Cie. Dec. 11, 1916. Electro-magnets for lifting iron or steel bars have pole shoes comprising a number of radiating arms 2, 3, 4, 5 having their respective ends shaped to fit bars of different sections to be lifted. The shoes are rotatable so that the required arms can be brought into action. One or more magnets are supported by brackets 7 from an horizontal bar 5' provided with rings 12 by which it is suspended from a crane.
