439,590. Induction furnaces. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Oct. 25, 1934, No. 30635. Convention date, Feb. 6, 1934. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 2, 1935.] [Class 39 (iii)] The hearth lining 1 of a polyphase furnace with an open iron cone 5 is star-shaped in cross - section with the poles 2 arranged between the points of the star. Cooled reinforcing members 4 are provided on the lining between the poles. Flat cooling members 3 traverse the pole vertically or are arranged between the laminations thereof. A formula is given for the distance between the polepieces and the centre of the charge.
