1,103,400. Supporting underwater pipes. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 18 Oct., 1966, No. 46502/66. Heading F2P. [Also in Division E1] A pipestring 6, e.g. conductor or casing pipes, extending from the seabed 7, is located by a submerged float 10 slidable along the string and provided with supporting lines 11 extending outwardly to anchors 12 or 13 on the seabed. The float has arms 23 pivoted thereon with rollers at their free ends engaging the string. Lines 11 are provided with floats 24 and the buoyancy of float 10, which is of toroidal shape, is adjustable by controlling the quantity of water therein to keep the lines 11 straight. The pipestring is supported by one or more buoyancy chambers 9 fixed thereto.
