Abstract

110,004. Constantinesco, G., and Haddon, W. Oct. 3, 1916. Pistols. - A device for transmitting pressure from a fluid column to a moving surface, applicable to pumps and especially applicable for use with hydraulic transmission apparatus described in Specifications 9029/13 and 12438/14, [both in Class 69 (ii), Hydraulic presses &c.], comprises a cylinder a, Fig. 1, with a piston g composed of parts c, f bolted together. A ball b rotatably mounted in the piston bears on the moving surface h, and is directly acted on by the fluid pressure over the greater part of the cross section of the fluid column. In modifications the member f is dispensed with, the member c is acted on by a spring, packing is provided to prevent leakage past the member e, or the member e is provided with projecting ball-retaining tongues. In a further form, the member b is truncated and perforated as shown in Fig. 6.
