Abstract

1,093,363. Boots &c. P. A. GARCIA. Sept. 16, 1964 [Sept. 16, 1963], No. 37858/64. Heading A3B. A shoe base unit comprises a moulded insole 11, a moulded heel component, the heel seat of the insole and the heel component being shaped to locate the heel component in relation to insole 11, and screw and nut means for securing the two components together. The insole 11 has an upper surface shaped to conform to the shape of the foot and has ribs 35 formed on its lower surface to stiffen the shank region of the insole. The heel seat has bevelled portions and a protuberance 14 which match the upper heel component. The two components are secured together by a screw 18, which is held against turning, and a threaded portion 21 of a lower heel component 22 having a top lift 32 secured by a screw 33 and prevented from turning by a pin 34. In another embodiment (Fig. 12, not shown) a complete heel (36) is secured to the insole by a screw (18a) and a threaded sleeve (38) accommodated in a counter-bore in the heel (36). The base unit is used to make an open shoe as follows:-A sock lining (26) is placed on the insole and is seamed along a line underneath the shank of the insole and the remaining marginal portions (26<SP>1</SP>) of the lining (26) are turned under the insole. A vamp (31) is then added and an outer sole (32) is secured to the bottom of the insole, which also secures the vamp (31) and the toe portions (26<SP>1</SP>) of the margin of the lining (26) to the insole. The heel is then added which also secures the heel portions (26<SP>1</SP>) of the margin of the lining.
