Abstract

1,092,375. Sewage filter. SIGMUND PULSOMETER PUMPS Ltd. Sept. 11, 1964 [Aug. 6, 1963], No. 31038/63. Heading BID. [Also in Division Fl] Liquid containing solid matter, e.g. sewage, flows into an intercepting chamber 11, in which the solid matter is retained by a cage 18 of strainer bars, and out into a storage chamber 15 through one of a pair of stationary centrifugal pumps, 23 and 24. The pumps are provided with electric motors 27 and 28 one or both of which are actuated by a float operated switch 29 to pump liquid from the chamber 15 through the cage 18 into an outlet pipe 14. The operation of the pump or pumps is stopped by a float operated switch 30. With only one pump in operation the ball valve 22 automatically closes the discharge pipe of the remaining pump.
