Tubes or containers, collapsible.-A hypodermic syringe, of the type provided with a stiletto passing into the needle and carried by a protecting- cap, is so constructed that the stiletto does not normally project into the liquid-container but is separated therefrom by a metal diaphragm adapted to be perforated immediately preceding use, by forcing forward the stiletto before withdrawing it. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a neck 2' on the collapsible metal container 1 is engaged by a sleeve 8, to which a glass sheath 9 carrying a stiletto 10 is cemented. The neck has grooves 7 engaging ribs on the sleeve 8, and accidental movement is prevented by projections 11 formed by pressure. The sheath and stiletto may be pushed downwards so that the stiletto punctures a metal-foil disk 6 carried in a recess surrounding the outlet bore 3 of the syringe. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the metal disk 12 covers the whole of the end of the tube 1, and in which the sheath engages the container by screwthreads. In a further modification separate metal disks are omitted, the outlet bore 3 being carried only so far into the neck of the syringe as to leave a blind-end sufficiently thin to be easily perforated by the stiletto. In all the modifications, the needle is fixed in the outlet bore by pressure.
