Abstract

Alloys made by powder metallurgical methods and containing not less than 75% of nickel by weight, together with nickel and possibly other elements are heat-treated at 500 DEG -1200 DEG C. followed by rapid quenching. A further treatment for 1/2 to 12 hours at 350 DEG -600 DEG C. may follow. Alloys particularly referred to contain 75%-99% tungsten, up to 7% of nickel, balance iron, and 75%-99% tungsten up to 3.5% nickel, and balance copper.
