Abstract

1,085,610. Display cartons. J. TEMPELHOF. Sept. 2, 1966 [Dec. 14, 1965], No. 39292/66. Heading B8P. A wedge - shaped display carton has a square base 1 and a window 8, one rectangular wall having a detachable portion. As described, the triangular sides 4, 5 are rightangled to facilitate transport in mutually inverted face-to-face relation. For use as display carton the portion of wall 2 above window 9 is torn away along lines of weakness (17), (18), Fig. 5 (not shown), coinciding with the wall side edges. The carton may contain cards (10), to the lower ends of which articles (11), e.g. belt buckles, are attached, Fig. 3 (not shown). These cards may be hung by perforations (10a) from a nail, and to facilitate this a V-shaped notch 14, see also Figs. 2, 5 (not shown), is provided in the upper edge of back wall 3; after the detachable portion has been torn away, the nail is inserted through notch 14, which coincides with perforations (10a), and the carton is forced downwardly to leave the cards (10) hanging. The carton may be assembled from a blank illustrated in Fig. 5, preferably of homogeneously tinted cardboard. Wall 3 and an adjacent flap (26) are provided with cut lines (30), (31) enabling push-in portions such as 35 to be formed to hold the contents in place. Portions of different depths to locate different contents may be provided. Notches 32 enable a rubber band to be held in place around the carton. Wall 2 is joined at its upper edge to a flap (36) adapted to lie behind wall 3 when assembled. The wall 5 may be glued to a flap (21) joined to the edge of wall 3. Bottom closure flaps 1, (26), (28) extend from walls 4, 3, 2 respectively.
