Abstract
1,225,383. Containers; boxes; packages. K. KLEIN, [trading as HASSIA VERPACKUNG. KARL KLEIN]. 29 April, 1968 [28 April, 1967 ; 21 Sept., 1967], No. 20247/68. Headings B8C, B8D and B8P. A container has an opening for access to the contents which is closed by a flap of a stiff sheeting material, such that the flap bears on a plane wall portion of the container and is joined thereto by one or more tear-open adhesive or heat-sealed joints. In a first embodiment, the container 31 is deep-drawn from thermoplastics sheeting and has an upstanding edge joined by heat-sealing or adhesive fixing to a cover 33 made of cardboard. An opening 34 for access to the contents is provided in the cover. A flap 35 is joined by hinging to the cover 33, closes the access opening when it is swung down and is retained in closed position by an adhesive spot 36. After tearing the adhesive joints, reclosure is effected by insertion of a tongue on one corner of the flap into the slot 37. The access opening, tongue and slot may be differently arranged relative to one another (Fig. 2; not shown). In a second embodiment, the container may be formed from a folded blank (Fig. 3) with two broad sides 1, 2, two longitudinal narrow sides 3, 4, a flap 5, pairs of extensions 6, 8 and 7, 9, and further extensions 10, 11. A recess 12 is provided inside 1 for access to the contents. The adhesive joins are in the form of two surface zones 15, 16 and are each bounded by an annular incision which does not penetrate completely through the material of the flap. The blank is first folded into a tube by the formation of the adhesive joins 15, 16 (Fig. 4, not shown) and the extensions 6, 8 are folded over the extension 10 and adhesively joined to each other to form an end face. The extensions 11, 7 and 9 are similarly treated after insertion of the contents. The container is opened by tearing the adhesive joins 15, 16 whereupon those portions (17) of the flap bounded by the annular incisions remain (Fig. 5, not shown) on the broad side 1 and serve to indicate that the container has been opened. Alternatively, a single adhesive zone 18 (Figs. 7, 8, 9, not shown) bounded by an annular incision 19 which penetrates the flap and is separated from it by thin webs 20 may be provided. Upon tearing open the adhesive join, the webs are severed and the full material thickness of the zone remains on the wall 1 (Fig. 10, not shown). Subsequent reclosure (Fig. 11, not shown) is made more secure by the engagement of the zone with the hole 21.
