Abstract

1,082,123. Adjustable seats. SOC. ANON. MAGLUM. Feb. 25, 1965 [March 3, 1964], No. 8196/65. Heading A4J. [Also in Division E2] The back rest 3 of a vehicle seat which is angularly adjustable about pivots 4, has an erecting spring 5 and is locked in its adjusted position by expanding the slotted end of an inner tubular element 8, so that it jams within an outer tubular element 7, by means of a conical member 10. The free ends of the elements 7 and 8 are connected to the seat and back respectively. The conical member 10 is connected to an operating member 9 by means of a rod 14, lever 18, rod 24 and arm 27 so that, when the operating member 9 is lifted, the conical members is dis-engaged from the end of the element 8 and the back-rest is free to be adjusted. The elements may alternatively be incorporated in the backrest frame 3 (Figs. 5-7, not shown).
