1381105 Adjustable backrests R J SEARLE 14 Dec 1972 [17 Dec 1971 19 Jan 1972] 58865/71 and 2520/72 Heading A4J A chair has a curved front leg 7, integral with a backrest 2 pivotally connected to a curved rear leg 6 integral with a seat rest 1, the inclination of the backrest relative to the seat rest being adjusted by altering the length of an armrest 5 which extends between the back and seat rests. The armrest 5 may comprise two rods (8) and (9) Fig. 2 (not shown), inter-connected by a sleeve (10) the rods being formed with screw threads of opposite hand which are received in the sleeve. The armrest may comprise a single tube 5 formed at its rear end with spaced apart notches one of which is engageable with an abutment on the backrest.
