Abstract

1,078,591. Seats. P. S. FLETCHER. Feb. 21, 1966, No. 7446/66. Heading A4J. In a three position reclining chair, in which body-supporting members 26, 28 are carried, on links 48, 62 and 54, rearwardly with respect to stationary carrier bars 44, during a first transition, during a second transition, in which the carrier bars 44 are released from latches 78, 80 to tilt about pivots 46, linkages 66, 72 are operative to increase the angle between members 26 and 28. Latches 78, 80 are released by projections (86) on bars (42), as the chair reaches the semi-reclined position. Links 54 simultaneously abut pivots 46 and remain stationary in this position during the second transition. In the upright and semi-reclined positions of the chair, the carrier bars 44 rest on studs 45. A two-part foot rest 32, 34 is operated by links 116. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 897,918.
