Heading B7M A passive-tank ship-stabilizer comprises a tank (16), Fig. 2 (not shown), charged with a liquid, e.g. water or oil, in a free-surface condition whose motion in response to rolling of the ship is impeded by a pair of parallel weirs (26, 28), the sides (18, 20) of the tank being orientated athwartships. The height of each weir may be adjustable and the top of the tank may be closed by an adjacent deck.
