Abstract

1,068,623. Sliding clasp fasteners. F. MULKA. May 8, 1964 [April 22, 19641, No. 19407/64. Heading E2S. In a sliding clasp fastener each of the two stringer tapes 1a has connected to it a row of separate fastener elements 2 and there is engaged as a push fit over each row of fastener elements a sealing strip 3 covering and resiliently engaging the fastener elements on both sides of the row, except in the region of the heads 4 of the fastener elements, the sealing strip being formed with separate recesses for the reception of the individual fastener elements respectively of the corresponding row, said recesses extending in the direction from the line of separation of the fastener towards the stringer tape connected to said row and being preformed so as to be of such a shape and to have such dimensions that the boundary wall of each recess resiliently engages the corresponding fastener element over the whole of those surface areas thereof which are located on the sides of the corresponding row and over the greater part of those surface areas thereof which face towards the adjacent elements of the said row. As described each strip 3 has sealing lips 6, 7 which bridge the rows of elements 2 in the closed condition of the fastener, and has further lips 10, 11 for securing the strip to the tape 1a.
