Abstract
1,067,629. Tumbler driers. WHIRLPOOL CORPORATION. Dec. 16,1965 [Jan. 13, 1965], No. 53513/65. Heading F4G. A tumbler drier comprises a cabinet 11 housing a horizontally mounted imperforate or perforate cylindrical drum 24 which has an end wall only at the front loading end of the drum concentric with a loading opening 23 in the cabinet panel 14, while the open rear of the drum is confronted by a stationary bulkhead 33 in the cabinet. The wall of the drum has a continuous V-shaped groove 28 formed therein in which engage a series of rollers 30 mounted on shafts 32 secured to the bulkhead to rotatably support the drum and to prevent axial movement thereof. The drum is rotated by a continuous belt 36 wrapped around the peripheral wall 26 of the drum and driven by a motor 38. Heated air is introduced into the interior of the drum from a duct through an aperture in the bulkhead and is withdrawn therefrom by a further aperture therein communicating via conduits 47, 48 with a blower 50 to atmosphere. The bulkhead has an annularly shaped embossment substantially concentric with the cylindrical wall of the drum, which embossment is engaged by flexible sealing means in two separate positions. A filter 83 may be inserted in discharge conduit 46 through a door 82 in the top panel of the cabinet.
