Abstract

942,930. Drying fabrics in long lengths. FLEISSNER G.m.b.H. Oct. 14, 1960 [Oct. 26, 1959], No. 35294/60. Heading F4G. The drum of a sieve drum drier rotatably mounted within a housing has fan means adapted to blow air through the surface of the drum, and means external of the drum defining air ducts from the fan means to the surface of the drum, each duct guiding air from the fan means to an individual zone on the sieve drum surface. A sieve drier drum 12, Fig. 1, of octagonal cross-section rotatably mounted in a housing 13 has a fan 9 mounted at one end to draw air fromthe interior of the drum and blow it through apertures in the surface of the drum via ducts which are formed by baffles 8 extending radially inwards from the edges of the housing 13 to within close proximity of the surface of the drum to define individual zones 1 . . . 7 on the drum surface. Heaters 15, Fig. 3, having adjustable effective surface areas are provided in zones 1, 2 and 7 and adjustable air inlet and outlet valves 10, 11 are provided in the wall of the housing 13 in duct 6 and adjacent the fan respectively. The zones may be interconnected by pipes or ducts and the material to be dried may be treated with spray nozzles or pre-heated by infra-red radiation means (not shown).
