Abstract

A fuel additive for I.C. engines contains (a) 1-50% of a condensate of one mole of a polyethanolamine and 1-2 moles of one or more C9+ fatty acids; (b) 1-50% of a high boiling ester or esters of fatty, aromatic, hydroaromatic or naphthenic acids; and (c) 10-90% of a refined mineral oil of a viscosity of 1.6 DEG E/20 DEG C. to 15 DEG E/50 DEG C. The oil may be partly replaced by Fischer-Tropsch hydrocarbons or alkylbenzenes. Amongst the esters listed are ethyl laurate and benzoate, isopropyl and cresyl naphthenates, cresyl and oleyl acetate, methoxybutyl esters of acetic and methoxy acetic acids and glycol monooleate.
