Abstract

Cock semen is preserved by adding thereto an aqueous solution containing a stabilizing agent comprising a poly-l-a -glutamic acid of molecular weight 1,000 to 100,000 or an alkali metal salt thereof, together with a hydrogen ion buffering agent. Suitable buffering agents include alkali metal citrates, phosphates, carbonates and acetates. The solution preferably also contains antibiotics, nutrient sugars and colloid stabilizers.
