1,052,652. Lubricant composition. ALUMINIUM LABORATORIES Ltd. April 14, 1965 [April 28, 1964], No. 17640/64. Heading C5F. A lubricant composition for dispersion in water to produce an aqueous emulsion for use in the hot rolling of aluminium comprises a solution of a polybutene having a viscosity of at least 13,000 secs. Redwood No. 1 at 100‹ F. and an emulsifier in a sufficient quantity of a light oil to reduce the viscosity of the composition to below 800 secs. Redwood No. 1 at 100‹ F., the emulsifier being in sufficient quantity to permit the composition to be dispersed in water. The emulsifier may be one or more polyoxyalkylene compounds, e.g. a mixture of an unsaturated fatty acid-ethylene oxide condensate, a glyceride oil-ethylene oxide condensate, a polyoxyalkylene glycol and, as corrosion inhibitor, an amine salt of an alkyl aryl sulphonic acid. A further wetting agent such as polyoxyethylene glycol, or a sulphonated alkyl phenoxy polyethoxy ethanol may also be added. The light oil may be a spindle oil.
