Abstract

1,049,684. Cartons. MARDON, SON & HALL Ltd. Oct. 13, 1965 [July 21, 1964], No. 29421/64. Heading B8P. A carton comprises a panel 3 containing a removable portion 14 and a flap 9 having a pull tab 13 attached to a tear strip 12. The flaps 5-9 are glued together leaving the tab 13 free and the tear strip 12 covers the portion 14 defined by slits 15, 16, 17 and a score line 18. When the tab 13 is pulled upwards, the portion 14 is removed disclosing a hole 20, Fig. 3 (not shown), whilst portions 22, 23 of flap 9 remain glued to panel 3. The tear strip 12, which hinges along a line 21, is used to reseal the carton by inserting the tab 13 in the hole 20. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), an additional pull tab 24 is attached to the tear strip by short hinged connections and portions 14, 25 are torn to form an opening. The original carton may contain holes such as 20 so that the portions 14, 25 may be dispensed with and the carton may be block bottomed.
