A wick burner comprises a wick 3, Figures not shown, slidably mounted over an inner wick tube 4 which extends through the fuel tank and an air deflector secured to the underside of the tank and extending into the lower open end of the.inner wick tube 4. The deflector comprises a plate 15 carrying radial stepped vanes 13. The wick is surrounded by an outer wick tube 6 and is adjusted by a spur wheel 9.
