Abstract
1,046,004. Signs. J. H. G. PEARCE and PEARCE SIGNS Ltd. Feb. 23, 1965 [May 8, 1964], No. 19280/64. Heading G5C. In a letter or other motif for a rear-illuminated sign comprising a bevelled translucent plate c whose bevel is light-reflective, the bevel overhangs the edge of a housing d and the plate is hollowed out at e to a thickness giving optimum transmission of illumination. The bevel may be coated with a metal layer or gold leaf, or a vacuum deposition of aluminium to give the sign good daylight reflecting properties. The plate may be a laminate (Fig. 5) or a solid (Figs. 3, 4, 6, not shown) hollowed out as by routing.
