Abstract
1,045,588. Positive layers for photographic transfer processes. W. ZINDLER [trading as LUMOPRINT ZINDLER KOMM GES]. July 4, 1963 [July 20, 1962], No. 26599/63. Heading G2C. In the silver salt diffusion transfer process, an exposed silver halide emulsion layer containing a developer and a silver halide solvent is heated in contact with an image receiving layer which contains a reducing agent for producing a silver image and a hygroscopic salt which is zinc chloride hemihydrate, tithium chloride monohydrate, hydrated potassium acetate, calcium chloride hexahydrate, zinc nitrate hexahydrate or potassium carbonate dihydrate. The image-receiving material normally comprises two layers, the hygroscopic salt being in the lower layer of both layers. Each layer preferably has polyvinyl alcohol as binder and the lower layer preferably contains an amino acid (e.g. glycine, leucine or tyrosine) as stabilizer and sodium chloride to improve image density.
