Abstract

1,044,474. Converting. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. May 29, 1964 [May 30, 1963], No. 22375/64. Heading H2F. In a multiple-station H.V.D.C.P.T. system, in order to isolate the direct line between stations I and III while allowing power to flow from I to III via II, circuit breakers 13, 14 and 15 are connected in the line, the circuit breaker 13 being shunted by an auxiliary rectifier 12. To open the line the rectifier 12 is operated producing in the circuit containing the breaker 13 a voltage opposing that of the main rectifier 11, so that current ceases in the breaker which is then opened. Rectifier 12 is blocked by grid control to stop line current when the breakers 14 and 30 are opened. During normal operation the rectifier 12 may be disconnected on the A.C. side.
