Abstract

1,044,341. Ventilators. J. DRIFFIELD. June 16, 1964, No. 32766/62. Heading F4V. Air flow through the mouth of a hopper ventilator is controlled by a flat shutter J secured to the underside of an axle K which is pivoted in openings cut in hopper ends A and end flanges G and frictionally held in place by strips of soft material sandwiched between the flanges G and flanges on hopper extensions P. The pair of flanges are held together by bolts which are tightened sufficiently to hold the shutter in a position set by an operating member M. The shutter J is transparent and an axle cover N is provided for streamlining purposes. The hopper is attached to the inside of a window frame E surrounding a glazing panel and an air flow opening D, and the back panel B of the hopper is formed of glass. The hopper may be inverted and attached to the outside of a window frame Fig. 8 (not shown) the operating member M extending through an opening into the interior. By extending the axle K to be common to a number of horizontally in-line hoppers, simultaneous control may be provided. A number of vertically spaced lines of hoppers may be simultaneously operated, Fig. 7 (not shown), by connecting operating members M of each line to a common vertical control rod R.
