Abstract

1,039,401. Valves. SEETRU Ltd. April 8, 1963 [Jan. 8, 1962; May 11, 1962], Nos. 742/62 and 18140/62. Heading F2V. A resilient sealing disc, carried by a metal plunger, has a continuous D-shaped rim which abuts with a metallic seat surrounding an inlet port and the disc presents a continuous surface to the port to completely seal off the fluid from contact with the plunger and prevent leakage. The sealing disc has a generally D- shaped rim 38 and is retained within a recess 37 in plunger 33 by undercut side walls and a central undercut recess 43 with insertion of the disc therein assisted by a vent passage therefrom to the hollow interior of the plunger 33. The recess 43 may open directly to the plunger interior with the base closed by a spring retained metal disc 47 (Fig. 4, not shown). The disc may also be retained by a " mushroom " head engagement into the hollow plunger interior (Fig. 2, not shown). With smaller diameter ports a flat disc having a D-shaped rim (Fig. 1, not shown) may be employed in a solid plunger. The valve seat and the co-operating plunger nose may also be conical or spherical.
