Abstract

1,034,713. Moulding coated tablets. HANS KRUSE, [trading as WILHELM FETTE PRAZISIONSWERKZEUG FABRIK). March 4, 1963 [March 22, 1962], No. 8495/63. Heading B5A. Coated tablets are produced by forming a pressed cup-shaped shell H (Fig. 8, not shown), subjecting the shell to further pressure to reduce the shell to a shape having a shallow depression (Figs. 9-11, not shown), adding a preformed core or core material M 1 which is then pressed (Fig. 16, not shown), adding further shell material M (Fig. 25, not shown), and pressing to produce a tablet T as in Fig. 27 (not shown). The pressing is performed in a matrix 1, e.g. of a rotary table tabletting machine, having a bottom plunger 3, and a top plunger 2 provided with a further plunger 2a of telescopic form. A lenticular tablet may be formed using plungers with concave pressing surfaces. To prevent mixing of the two materials a striker member 4 may be provided in the region of the filling frame 5 (Fig. 32, not shown). If preformed cores are used a deflector 7 in the form of a rotary brush may be provided to prevent more than one core being deposited in the matrix (Fig. 39, not shown).
