Abstract
839,502. Coating tablets. KILIAN & CO. G.m.b.H. Jan. 6, 1958 [Jan. 9, 1957], No. 450/58. Class 87(2). Tablets are coated by introducing a portion 13 of pulverulent material in a two-part die 11, 12, Fig. 9, guiding a tablet 14 upon the pulverulent material by a centring device 10, filling the die cavity with the remainder 17 of the pulverulent material, Fig. 13, withdrawing the centring device from the tablet and pressing the powder and the tablet, Fig. 16. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 9 the centring device comprises a sleeve 10 around the lower punch 1. In another arrangement the centring device comprises guide bars 2, Fig. 1, vertically movable in axial grooves, equally spaced, in the lower punch 1 and shaped to conform to the top surface of the pluich. As adapted to a tablet-coating machine with a rotatable die table, projections from the guide bars engage recesses 8 in a socket 5, Fig. 4, which is axially movable on the punch 1, the movement being derived from the rotation of the die table by the inter-action of a flange 6 on the socket with a cam groove in a circular rail 7, Fig. 2. Fig. 13 shows the action of a charging device 16 in introducing the material 17 by movement along. the surface of the die table.
