Abstract

1,032,938. Centrifugal pumps. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES), Ltd. Aug. 7, 1964 [Aug. 10, 1963], No. 31667/63. Heading F1C. The flow through the inlet 14 of a centrifugal pump is controlled by a manually-adjustable valve 16. When the valve is almost closed, the liquid is directed by blading 25 in the impeller eye to auxiliary blading 21 which delivers it through ports 24 in an annular partition 20 into the main blading 19 and thence to the outlet 18. When the valve is opened further, to provide a flow greater than can be handled by the auxiliary blading 21, the excess liquid flows over the inner periphery of the partition 20 and thence through the main blading 19 to the outlet 18.
