Abstract

1,032,600. Adjustable chairs; resilient mountings. MAUSER KOMM.-GES. Nov. 2, 1964 [Nov. 2, 1963], No. 44661/64. Headings A4J and A4U. A rotary chair has a resiliently mounted seat which is vertically displaceable by means of a nut 2 and a screw spindle 1 guided within a base tube 11, at least three frustro-conical springs 3 being arranged within the nut which is bell-shaped and extends round the end 4 of the base tube 11. The base end of each of the springs 3 bears against a supporting plate 6. The springs are housed in cavities 15, Fig 2 (not shown), in the nut and the plate 6 has extensions engaging in these cavities so that the plate is not rotatable in the nut but is displaceable in an axial direction. The axial movement of plate 6 is limited by an end stop 5 enabling the springs to be initially stressed. A support bearing 7 which may be of plastics material is connected to the plate 7 through a releaseable coupling 8, 9. When the seat is loaded, coupling projections 8, 9 engage one another. The bearing 7 is axially displaceabel but non-rotatably mounted on spindle 1 so that nut 2 can be rotated relatively to the spindle 1 only when the seat is unloaded. The bearing 7 has a downwardly tapering stepped peripheral surface 10 in sliding contact with the end 4 of the base tube 11. The end 4 widens conically outwards and forms an abutment for a locking ring 13.
