Abstract
1,027,369. Spray-producers; flame torches. EUTECTIC WELDING ALLOYS CORPORATION. Dec. 19,1963 [Oct. 8, 1963], No. 50236/63. Heading B2F. . The powder container 16, Fig. 1-which may be of polyethylene-of a powder-fed flame spraying torch 12 has at least one movable wall such that inward collapse of at least part of the container takes place upon withdrawal of the powder. In the embodiment shown, the wall 38 is of bellows formation and the container is secured to the torch through a connector cup 20 the connection between the container neck 32, Fig. 3 (not shown) and the cup being effected by a bayonet type coupling 30. In a further embodiment the entire wall of the container is of bellows formation and a plug and cap device, Fig. 9 (not shown), is provided to seal the contents against contamination when the container is not fitted to the torch. In this embodiment the wall 38 is extremely flexible such that it may collapse completely into the container to an extent allowed by the remaining powder. In a modified form of the container of Fig. 1 a tube is located in the neck such that it extends into the container to within a short distance from the wall 38. The container 16c of Fig. 13 (not shown), comprises an air-filled space 58c separated from the powder filled space 60C by a flexible diaphragm 56C. In the container 16D of Fig. 15 (not shown), on the other hand, a wall 38D is made slidable, pistonlike, within a cylinder 16D. Marks 66D are provided as indicators denoting powder level within the container. The container 16E of Fig. 17 (not shown) comprises a flexible plastic powder filled sac locked within a rigid tube 68E the locking being effected by making the connector cup 70E from a resilient material and forming the sac with a flanged turn-over end 71E. The tube 68E is formed with a' flange 74E such that forceful insertion of the latter into the sac end 71E and the cup 70E causes a flange 76E on the cup to snap-over the assembled flange 74E and end 71E. If the tube and sac are of transparent plastic material the amount of powder in the container at any time is readily discernable.
