Abstract

1,022,397. Fuel injection pumps. ROBERT BOSCHE G.m.b.H. Oct. 30, 1964 [Nov. 2, 1963], No. 44332/64. Heading F1A. In a fuel injection pump having a cam drive in which the stationary part of the drive is angularly adjustable relative to the rotary part to vary the timing, the reaction of the cylinder pressure tending to alter the adjustment is counteracted by a friction lock on the adjustable member. The reaction of the cylinder pressure may force the adjustable member into frictional engagement with a fixed member or, as shown, a wedge member 40 is forced into engagement with the adjustable member 10 during the pressure stroke by a piston 41 the cylinder space 43 being supplied with pressure pulses during the injection stroke under control of a valve 45.
