Abstract
1,014,012. Knitting machines. VAN RAALTE CO. Inc. Oct. 12, 1962, No. 38761/62. Heading D1C. A warp knitting machine includes two selvage spreader mechanisms 24, each comprising a pulley 46, adjacent the knitting mechanism and tangential to the path 21 of the fabric centre from the knitting mechanism 11 to the take-up means 16,17, and 15 and a pulley 45 remote from the knitting mechanism and spaced from path 21, and a belt 42, mounted on the pulleys 46, 45 and driven by pulley 45 and having pins or tacks 43 to engage the fabric edge which travels faster than the fabric centre. As shown, Fig. 2, mechanisms 24 are adjustably mounted on arms 22 adjustably secured to brackets 12 mounted on the machine frame 10. Each mechanism comprises a plate member 30 beneath which are secured bearing members 31, 41 carrying the pulleys 45, 46 which are longitudinally adjustable to tension belt 42. Belt 42 is also supported by a plate 50 and by pulleys 47, 48 which, with plate 30 have grooves to accommodate the pins 43. The fabric passes between member 30 and the upper surface of belt 42 and is engaged by pins 43 so that the selvage is held securely.
