Abstract

1350653 Controlling warp tension in looms VYZKUMNY USTAV BAVLNARSKY 19 April 1971 [28 April 1970] 26751/71 Heading D1E A device for compensating for warp tension differences caused by shedding in travelling wave shed looms comprises a pair of parallel bars 6 extending across the warp 2 whose lower edges 4 guide the warp and a warp deflecting member on the opposite side of the warp positioned between the bars 6 and including a rotating helical or stepped helical cam 18. The bars 6 are adjustable parallel to the warp and may be rotated so that either of their edges acts as the warp guiding edge. A thin flexible sheet 19, Fig. 6 may be held by one of its edges so that it lies between the cam 18 and the warps 2 to prevent the warps from being worn. Alternatively the cam may be composed of a large number of individual cam discs 24 or 26 angularly offset to provide a helically extending surface, and members 40 are provided having projections on their lower sides which run in grooves around the cam disc peripheries and a U-shaped upper projection 41 guiding the warp. The members 40 are held stationary by a flexible belt (42), Fig. 16 (not shown) connecting them across the warp.
