A washer for indicating bolt-tension comprises a hardened metal annulus having a plurality of hollow protuberances 11 the extent of which is such that the desired bolt-tension is reached when the protuberances have been plastically deformed back into the plane of the washer as the bolt is tensioned. The protuberances may be formed in the inner or outer margins of the washer or between these margins.
