Abstract

972,287. Expandible screw sockets. MOLLY CORPORATION. Oct. 25, 1960, No. 36519/60. Heading F2H. An anchor device for panels and the like is made from a sheet metal blank, Fig. 1. A central portion 1 is used to form an end boss 11, Fig. 14, in a series of passing operations and the thickened centre of this boss is threaded at 12. The arms 1a Fig. 1, of the blank are notched at 1e and bent up from the boss while the free ends of the arms are bent outwardly to form arcuate segments which are enclosed by a washer 26, Fig. 14. When a screw 19, Fig. 15, is tightened with the anchor device inserted in a panel 17 the arms collapse behind the panel to retain the screw boss. U.S.A. Specification 2,559,181 is referred to.
