Abstract
1,003,960. Slatted blinds or shutters. A. KRULL. July 31, 1962 [Aug. 4, 1961], No. 29389/62. Heading E1J. A slatted blind or shutter comprises vertical slats 1 having end-pieces 2 connected together by flexible bands 6 which serve to pivot the slats in the extended position of the blind, which is achieved by operating a vertical rod 7 (Fig. 2) on the free end of the blind, the other end of the blind being attached to one window jamb by a flexible band 8. The slats are resiliently suspended on rollers 4 by bars 3 with flanged ends 12 (Fig. 8), the bars 3 carrying square plates 11 which slide in square holes 10 in the slat end-pieces 2. These end-pieces may extend the width of the slats (Fig. 1), with the slat connecting bands 6 attached by sleeves 6c to pivot pins 6a arranged at the slat edges, or the end-pieces 2 may be merely large enough to contain the mounting for the bar 3 (Fig. 10), when the connecting bands 6 have to form outward loops between the slats. The lower guide rail 5 (Figs. 6, 6a) carries a spring catch 5a which holds the blind in the stretched position, and the slats may be held at various angles to the rail by balls 13 (Fig. 8) carried by the plates 11, which engage in corresponding recesses in the flanges 12.
