1 Claim. 01. 20-11 My invention relates to protectors and more specifically to protectors for windows and doors that have slat type blinds mounted thereon.

When slat type blinds are mounted on doors and windows considerable marring of the paint and in extreme cases marring of the wood of the window and door results from the striking of the door and window by the blind. This striking of the door or window by the blind is caused by the movement of the door and the movement of air through the window when it is open.

It is an object of my invention to devise a formed metallic strip that is secured to the window or door in a position to protect the frame of the window or door from the members of a slat type blind mounted on said door or window.

Another object of my invention is to devise a metallic window and door protector that is simple in construction and easily applicable by the average layman.

Another object of my invention is to devise a metallic window or door protector that will offer no resistance to the vertical movement of the blind.

Another object of my invention is to devise a metallic window or door protector that may be secured to the wood or metal frame of the door or window and of such a conformation that the securing means for the protector will not cause injury orv marring of the blind members.

Other objects of my invention are to provide an improved device of the character described, which is easily and economically produced and which is sturdy and compact in construction and which is easily applied.

With the above and related objects in view my invention consists in the details of construction as hereinafter shall be described, the description being more readily understood when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:

Fig. 1 is an elevational view of a window with a slat type blind attached and showing my window frame protector in place.

Fig. 2 is a fragmentary isometric view of a frame house type window frame with a slat type blind in place thereon and my window frame protector in place.

Fig. 3 is a fragmentary isometric view of a brick house type window frame with a slat type blind in place thereon and a modified form of my window frame protector in place.

Fig. 4 is a fragmentary isometric view of a stone house type window frame with a slat .type blind in place and a modified form of my window frame protector in place.

Fig. 5 is a fragmentary isometric view of my window protector.

Fig. 6 is an elevational view of the upper portion of a door with a slat type blind attached and showing my door protector in place.

Fig. 7 is a fragmentary isometric view of a door and frame with a slat type blind in place on the door and my door protector in place.

Referring now in greater detail to the drawings, I disclose a window, generally designated as A, with a slat type blind, generally designated as B, attached positioned between each end of the blind and the window frame is an elongated metal strip generally designated as C.

The window frame protection strip is comprised of an angular portion 10 arranged to fit in the corner of the window frame with one leg 11 of the angular portion arranged to be adjacent to the side member of the window frame, the other leg 12 of the angular portion 10 being arranged to be adjacent to the flat portion of the window frame. On the inner edge of the leg 12 is a raised portion 13 arranged to engage the edges of the blind slats, thereby protecting the window frame. The leg 11 of the protector A protects the window frame from lateral movement of the blind. The leg portion 11 of the protector varies in width on various types of window frames as illustrated in Figs. 2, 3, and 4. The raised portion 13 of the leg 12 of the protector A is also arranged to provide clearance between the blind slats and the flat leg 12 of the protector so that the blind slats will clear the heads of the protector securing pins 14.

A door protection strip, generally designated as C is illustrated as applied to a door, see Fig. 6. The door protector C is positioned between each end of the blind and the door and is an elongated metal strip. The door protector strip C is comprised of a flat portion 16 with a raised portion 17 on its inner edge. The securing means (not shown) for the metal protector strip C is the same as that for the window protector and the raised portion 17 of the protector C provides clearance between the blind slats and the fiat portion 16 with projecting heads of the securing means.

Although my invention has been described in considerable detail, such description is intended as being illustrative rather than limiting, since the invention may be variously embodied, and the scope of the invention is to be determined as claimed.

I claim as my invention:

A window frame protecting device comprising an angular member with an outstanding leg for the protection of the side of the window frame, a flat member for the protection of the face of the frame, said flat member having a raised portion arranged to provide clearance for the protecting device securing means, said raised portion permitting vertical movement of a slat type blind mounted on said window frame without causing injury the the members of said slat type blind.
