Abstract

The invention comprises the compound of formula <FORM:1001824/C2/1> and its preparation (1) by cyclization of a compound O-Y-Ph-CH2-S-Ph, where Y is carboxyl (or an acid halide formed therefrom), which compound in which Y is carboxyl may be obtained by saponifying a compound o-(Alk-OOC) -Ph-CH2-S-Ph, where Alk is alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms, which may be obtained by halogenating an o-toluic acid alkyl (1-4 C) ester and condensing the resulting 2-halomethylbenzoic acid alkyl ester with thiophenol, or (2) as exemplified, by cyclization of S-benzylthia-salicylic acid chloride.
