La présente invention décrit un procédé d'hydrogénolyse sélective traitant une charge riche en composés aromatiques ayant plus de 8 atomes de carbone, et consistant à transformer un ou plusieurs groupe(s) alkyle(s) à au moins deux atomes de carbone (éthyle, propyle, butyle, isopropyle, etc..) fixé(s) sur un noyau benzénique en un ou plusieurs groupe(s) méthyle(s). Intégration de l'unité d'hydrogénolyse dans un complexe aromatique.
