Abstract

The socket (1), having a connector (3) to which a sleeve (6) carrying electrical cables (7, 8) is attached, is equipped with a supple seal ring (9) which forms a contact seal with the lamp bulb and base (10). The seal ring comprises a flat circular ring which fits against the end of the socket with a collar (12) projecting inside it and an outer projecting rim with a lip to seal the bulb. The seal is attached to the socket by a bead of adhesive or other fixing. In a variant of the design, the collar can have inner and outer coaxial sections to fit against both sides of the socket edge.
