Abstract

The device has a locking mechanism such as a casement bolt or lock which is attached to a the window leaf (3) and which acts on a locking mechanism (14) so that engages a first strike plate in the window frame (7). A second strike plate (23) is in a small rod (24) hinged on a support (26) attached to the window frame. The rod moves into an initial position (32) by elastic force. This holds the window open and the locking mechanism engages the second strike plate in the rod. In the second position the leaf is closed and the locking mechanism engages in the first strike plate in the window frame.

Description

 The invention relates to a stay for window, holding-door or the like equipped with a locking mechanism. such as a cremone bolt or bolt lock, associated with a leaf and acting on at least one locking member capable of cooperating with a keeper secured to the sleeping frame.

 The present invention will find its application in the field of building hardware and, in particular, in the context of doors or windows with two leaves.

More specifically, these so-called wolf mouth windows have a leaf equipped with a locking mechanism of the lever bolt type with inverter.

Thus, such a cremone bolt, generally affixed on the internal race of the front upright of the leaf, controls the displacement, in opposite directions, of two rods whose ends are intended to be inserted, in the locked position, in strikes arranged on the upper and lower cross member of the frame. This leaf, thus equipped with the locking mechanism, comprises, in rebate, a groove in which is intended to engage a boss arranged in rebate of the front upright of the other leaf of the window. We understand. so. that to lock the latter, the two leaves must be pierced simultaneously without which one does not obtain the interlocking of the rebates.

 As for the half-opening of such a window with a wolf's mouth, it is obtained by locking the leaf equipped with the locking mechanism while wedging the boss located at the level of the edge before the other leaf, between the internal race of the amount front of the locked leaf and the branches of the baton handle by means of which the user controls said locking means. It is understood that, in this position and while being ajar, each of the leaves of this wolf mouth window is perfectly immobilized preventing their unexpected opening, nor even, access, from the outside, to the stick handle allowing the control of the locking means.

 Such a simple solution is not applicable to the rebated windows which are more topical. Also, more complex solutions of the tilt-and-turn combination opening type have been envisaged for the opening of the latter. Thus, by means of locking mechanisms and complex articulations, such windows have a sash which not only pivots normally, about a vertical axis, but, moreover, is also able to pivot, partially, around a horizontal aisle substantially materialized by its lower cross member, to put itself in a partially open position.

 We also know of the half-openers which are in the form of an accessory device which can be defined as a latch affixed to the lower cross member of the frame and intended to cooperate with a specific keeper mounted on the lower cross member of an opening. Such a spacer is described in particular in document FR-A-2,699,955. The resulting drawbacks are, of course, necessity, for the user. to intervene on another locking mechanism than those which usually allow it to close the window or the like. Consequently, there are, in a way, duplicates of these locking means. In addition, being affixed, applied to the internal face of the sleeping frame, these interlocks, of the latch type, are particularly unsightly.

 The object of the present invention is to remedy all of the aforementioned drawbacks, this through a stay which, while being of a simple design and subject to manufacture independent of the locking mechanism, is to even to maintain a leaf in the ajar position during a command exerted on said locking mechanism.

Consequently, we find the spirit of the wolf mouth window without taking over, of course, the constraints and without, moreover, complicating, however, the locking mechanism.

 To this end, the invention relates to a stay for window, window or similar, equipped with a locking mechanism, such as a cremone bolt or bolt-lock associated with a leaf and acting on at least one locking member capable of cooperate with a keeper secured to a dormant frame, characterized in that it spreads a keeper intended to cooperate with a locking member actuated by means of the locking mechanism, this keeper being associated with a link rod articulated on a support integral with the frame, said rod being brought into a first position under the impulse of elastic return means, this in order to keep the leaf ajar when said locking member is brought into the locked position so as to cooperate with said associated strike to the rod and in a second position when the leaf is closed and against the action of said means of r elastic call, authorizing said locking member to cooperate with the corresponding keeper on the frame.

 Advantageously, according to the invention, this ajar takes up a position in the rebate of the window, door-holder or the like, substantially in line with a locking member intended to cooperate with a keeper arranged in the frame.

 In particular, this spacer will find its application for double-leaf windows equipped, as a locking mechanism. a cremone bolt or bolt lock with at least one operating rod, the end of which constitutes a locking member capable of cooperating with a keeper secured to the frame.

 The advantages obtained by virtue of this invention consist in that this parting device arranged in the window rebate or the like does not constitute any aesthetic or even mechanical discomfort. since, not only does it require no modincation of the locking mechanism, but, moreover, it cooperates with a locking member dependent on this mechanism so that the opening control is similar to that allowing the opening or closing window, door-renêtre or the like.

 Other objects and advantages of the present invention will emerge during the description which follows, relating to an embodiment which is given only by way of indicative and nonlimiting example.

 The present invention relates to a stay 1 more particularly shown in detail in Figures 2 to 5 and intended i a window or the like. In this regard, by way of example of an application, a window 2 with two leaves 3, 4 has been shown in FIG. 1, pivotally mounted about vertical axes of rotation 5, 6 on a frame 7.

 It is obvious that the present invention is not limited to the application of the ajar device 1 to such a particular window 2, since it can also be associated with doors or even windows comprising only one leaf, with vertical axis of rotation or not.

 1l has also been shown, on this ngure 1 and diagrammatically, a locking mechanism 8 associated with one of the leaves 3 and denominated, preferably, by a cremone bolt or cremone bolt 9. Thus, the latter comprises a mechanism control 10 on which the user intervenes by means of a handle (not shown) to control the movement of at least one operating rod 11, 12. This or these latter may constitute, on the ground, locking insofar as they have one end 13, 14 capable of cooperating with a keeper 15, 16 secured to the sleeping frame 7 of the window 2.

 The other leaf 4, can be kept closed, calmly. by means of the leaf 3 due to the overlap of their respective rebate 17, 18 at the level of their upright before 19, 20 which come to meet. substantially, in the vertical median plane of the window 2. It is obvious that, even under these conditions, this leaf 4 can be equipped with an auxiliary locking mechanism 8A mainly having the advantage of keeping said leaf 4 in the closed position, then that the other leaf 3 is open. Such auxiliary locking mechanisms 8A can be in the form of latches 21 arranged in rabbet 18 of the front upright 20 and cooperating with a keeper 22 at the level of the sleeping frame 7.

 As for the stay 1 itself, it also includes a keeper 23 intended to cooperate with a locking member actuated by the locking mechanism 8, 8A. In the context of the embodiment more particularly illustrated in FIG. 1, the locking member with which is intended to cooperate this keeper 23 of this stay 1 is constituted by an end 14 of one of the operating rods 12.

 In fact, it should be observed that this keeper 23 of the stay 1 is associated with a link 24, one end 25 of which is articulated on a support 26 made integral with the sleeping frame 7.

 To return to the more specific case shown in the various figures of the accompanying drawings, the support 26 is mounted in the rebate of the fixed frame 7, preferably at the level of the upper or lower cross member 27 of the latter. In such a configuration, the rod 24 pivots, relative to the support 26, about a perpendicular vertical axis 28.

 This rod 24 is subjected to elastic return means 29 tending to drive it in rotation about the axis 28 and t push its free end 30 in a direction which is that corresponding to the direction of opening of the leaf 3 that l 'entrebâiileur aims to keep ajar. Thanks to stop means 31, the rotation of the link 24 relative to the support 26 is limited so that the elastic return means 29 bring said link 24 into a first position 32 in which it forms a well-defined angle 33 relative to the window shot. In such an angular position, the keeper 23, associated with the link 24 and which presents itself. here, in the form of a simple opening, can receive a locking member corresponding to the locking mechanism 8. According to the embodiment, this opening corresponding to the keeper 23 is able to accommodate, in this position. the end 14 of the operating rod 12. If now, the leaf 3 is ajar so that this end 14 of the operating rod 12 is located in the extension of said keeper 23 simply activate the mechanism locking 8 so that this leaf 3 is then perfectly maintained in this ajar position.

 It should be observed that, according to the invention, the keeper 23 of the stay-opener i is positioned in line with the locking member, here the end 14 of the operating rod 12, as soon as the leaf 3 or, more precisely, its rebate abuts against the free end 30 of the rod 24 occupying its first position 32.

 This rod 24 is still able to occupy a second position 34 which corresponds to the situation represented in the ngure 2. that is to say when closing the leaf 3. Thus, when closing the latter, it comes, first of all. in abutment against the free end 30 of the rod 24, then, while continuing the movement, this rod 24 is pushed back, under the impulse of said leaf 3 and against the action of the elastic return means 29 so as to be located, noticeably. in the plane of window 2.

 Said keeper 23 is defined such that. in this second position 34 of the rod 24, it allows the passage of the locking member to the right of which it comes to be located to allow this locking member to cooperate with the keeper 16 disposed on the frame 7. Consequently and as illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 5, said link 24 is interposed between said keeper 16 formed at the level of the frame 7 and the rebate of the leaf 3. Note that in this position. this rod 24 also comes, substantially, to be superimposed on its support 26.

 In view of the above, we understand. therefore that. starting from the closed position, to partially open the leaf 3, it is necessary, first of all.

unlock the locking mechanism 8 and allow the link 24 to be released so that it can. under the impulse of the elastic return means 29, move into its first position 32, offset augularly relative to the plane of the window or the like. While maintaining, then, the leaf 3 in abutment against the free end 30 of this rod 24, it is necessary.

finally, again lock the locking mechanism 8. In the same way, starting from an opening position of the leaf 3 and to open the latter, it is first necessary to close it until its rebate meets the free end 30 of the rod 24. This is felt in the form of a hard point by the user due to the constraint that it would be advisable to apply to this leaf 3 to continue to progress in this closing direction, this due to the resistance provided by the elastic return means 29 acting on said rod 24.

 It will be noted, in this regard, that with regard to the stop means 31 whose purpose is to limit the angle of rotation of the rod 24 on its support 26 under the action of the elastic return means 29, they arise, preferably, in the form of a lug 35 integral with the end 25 of said link 24 beyond the hinge axis 28 and extending perpendicularly relative to the latter, in the direction of the support 26. Furthermore, the latter comprises a transverse cutout 36 intended to receive this lug 35 and the depth 37 of which is determined so as to limit the amplitude of the freedom of movement of the lug 35 when the rod 24 is rotated. I1 This obviously results in a limitation of the angular displacement of said rod 24.

As for the elastic return means 29, they can take any configuration. In particular, they can be in the form of a helical spring mounted transversely in the thickness of the support 26 and acting on said link rod 24 as illustrated in the drawings corresponding to a preferred embodiment.

 It should be observed that the width 38 of the plate defining the support 26 as well as the width of the link 24 are a function of the width available in the rebate of the fixed frame 7 at which the stay 1 is intended to take position. However, because of the tolerances in the matter and the play existing between the leaves 3, 4 and said frame 7, there may arise situations oh, when closing said leaf 3 and under the impulse of the latter. the link 24 and.

in particular, its keeper 23 is not located, exactly, in the extension of the keeper 16 formed at the level of the sleeping frame 7, it is obvious. in these conditions. as the locking member. more particularly the end 14 of the operating rod 12, cannot pass through this keeper 23 corresponding to the rod 24 in order to cooperate with said keeper 16 on the sleeping frame 7.

 To avoid this, said blellette 24 is equipped with means 39 to make up for the play at the rebate between the leaf 3 and the frame 7 so that the keeper 23 of this rod 24 is systematically in the right position. These means 39 are, according to a first embodiment illustrated in ngure 2, in the form of one or more elastic blades 40 whose stiffness is substantially greater than the stiffness of the elastic return means 29 and equipping the front edge 41, oriented in the direction of the leaf 3, of the rod 24. Consequently, when closing the leaf 3, the latter instead of bearing directly on the rod 24, pushes the latter by means of its elastic blades 40. These are thus able to compress, a king the link 24 abuts against the shoulder of the rebate of the frame 7 to compensate for the persistent play relative to the leaf 3. In fact, the mounting is so designed that. in this position in abutment of the rod 24 its keeper 23 is located perfectly in line with the keeper 16 on the frame 7 intended to receive the end 14 of the operating rod 12. According to another embodiment, more particularly visible in Figure 4, these means 39 can take the configuration of a simple stop adjustable or not adjustable on the leaf 3 and ensuring the positioning of the rod 24 relative to the keeper 13 on the frame 7 at the time of closing said leaf 3 .

 If, in the context of the embodiment described above and illustrated in the drawings, the spacer 1 takes up a position, more particularly, in the rebate of the upper cross member of the frame 7 so as to cooperate with a locking member constituted by an end 14 of operating rod 12. it is understood, of course. that this stay 1 is also likely to be located at any other location of said frame 7 and, in particular, in the rebate of the front upright or, of course, in the rebate of the lower cross member. It can thus cooperate with a locking member which, in the locking position, is protruding. as the case may be, relative to the front upright 19 or of the lower cross-member of the corresponding leaf 3. In addition, the keeper 23 can also. be adapted according to this locking member that it is intended to accommodate. whether to keep the leaf in the ajar position or in the closed position. It can in particular be designed to accommodate as a locking member a roller such as are fitted with the cremone bolts or multipoint locks.

 In all cases, one understands the very particular interest of this stay-in-measure insofar as, on the one hand, it can take up a position in the rebate of the frame 7 of the door, window or the like so that it does not night. never. to the aesthetics of the latter. Of pius. while avoiding any modineation of the structure of the locking mechanism 8.

its entry into action is dependent on a command exerted on the operating handle of this locking mechanism 8. I1 results in a particularly convenient use.

 Although the invention has been described in connection with a particular embodiment. it is understood that it is in no way limited to it and that it is possible to bring therein various modincations of shapes, materials and combinations of these various elements, without thereby departing from the framework and spirit of the 'invention.

Claims (10)

Claims  1. Window stay, window holder or the like fitted with a locking mechanism (8), such as a cremone bolt or cremone bolt. associated with a leaf (3) and acting on at least one locking member (14) able to cooperate with a keeper (16) integral with a fixed frame (7), characterized in that it includes a keeper ( 23) intended to cooperate with a locking member (14) actuated by means of the locking mechanism (8), this keeper (23) being associated with a link (24) articulated on a support (26) integral with the sleeping frame (7), said link (24) being brought into a first position (32) under the impulse of elastic return means (29). this in order to keep the leaf (3) ajar when said locking member (14) is brought into the locked position so as to cooperate with said keeper (23) associated with the link (24) and in a second position (34) during the closing of the leaf (3) and against the action of said elastic return means (29), authorizing said locking member (14) to cooperate with the keeper (16) corresponding to the frame (7).  2. A cracker according to claim 1, characterized in that it is arranged in the rabbet of the ienêtre. door-renêtre or the like (2), substantially in line with a locking member (14) intended to cooperate with a keeper (16) arranged at the level of the frame (7).  3. A spacer according to any one of claims 1 and 2, characterized by the rait that, in its second position (34), the link (24) is substantially superimposed on its support (26) so as to be located in the plane of the window, door-renêtre or the like (2) while coming to be interposed between the rebate of the leaf (3) and the keeper (16) with which is intended to cooperate the locking member (14).  4. A stay according to claims 1 to 3, characterized by the taist that the keeper (23) is constituted by a through opening at the level of the link (24) this keeper (23) being positioned in line with the keeper (16) of the frame (4) when the rod (24) is brought into its second position (34), allowing the locking member (14) to cooperate with this keeper (16) through said opening constituting the keeper (23) of the spacer (1).  5. Crank according to claim 1, characterized in that the elastic return means (29) rotate the rod (24) relative to its support (26) so as to push back the free end (30) of said rod (24) in a direction which is that corresponding to the direction of opening of the leaf (3), this rotation being limited by means of stops (31) so that this rod (24) defines a well-defined angle (33) relative to the plane of the window, door-renêtre or the like (2).  6. A spacer according to claim 5, characterized in that the abutment means (31) are in the form of a lug (36) integral with the end (25) of the link (24), beyond its articulation axis (28), and extending perpendicularly relative to the latter in the direction of the support (26), which comprises a transverse cutout (36) receiving this lug (35) and the depth (37) of which is determined by function of the authorized angular displacement of said link (24).  7. ajar according to claim 2, characterized in that the width (38) of the plate dennating the support (26) as the width of the link (24) are determined as a function of the width available in groove of the frame (7) at which the interleaver <1> is intended to take a position.  8. A spacer according to any one of claims 2 and 7, characterized in that the link (24) comprises means (39) to make up for the play at the rebate between the leaf (3) and the frame ( 7) in order to ensure the arrangement of the keeper (23) of this link (24) in line with the keeper (16) when closing the leaf (3).  9. A spacer according to claim 8, characterized in that the means (39) are in the form of one or more elastic blades (40) whose stiffness is substantially greater than that of the elastic return means (29) and equipping the front edge (41). oriented towards the leaf (3), the link (24).  10. A crank according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the locking member with which it is intended to cooperate is constituted, substantially, by one end (14) of operating rods (12) of the mechanism locking (8) in the form of a lever or lever-bolt associated with a leaf (3).
