La présente invention concerne un emballage destiné à contenir un produit de forme cylindrique ou polygonale de faible epaisseur et plus particulièrement un fromage tel que le brie par exemple. Dans le cas particulier de 1'emballage des fromages, il s'est avéré nécessaire d'une part de contenir ceux-ci un par-un et d'autre part d'assurer une aération maximum du contenu de l'emballage.Les perforations généralement prévues pour assurer une circulation d'air autour du produit diminuent d'une façon importante la résistance mécanique de l'emballage, notamment à l'écrasement au cours du gerbage en hauteur ou aux risques de dechirures en cours de manutention. A cet effet, il est genéralement utilisé une qualité de carton supérieure : conjointement, la structure même de l'emballage est conçue pour résister aux sollicitations précitées. C'est ainsi qu'il est connu de ceinturer chaque fromage par une bande de carton disposée sur chant et formee selon un contour polygonal dont certaines de ses faces viennent en contact avec les parois de l'emballage desquelles elles sont rendues solidaires généralement par collage.
