Abstract

A solar energy panel for heating a liq. circulating in a pipe, consists of a flat rectangular box, heat insulated and covered by a transparent cover contg. the pipe. Each panel can be used as a "tile" in the place of the normal roof covering and is relatively small being less than 1m2. The box is made from a sheet of an aluminium based alloy pressed into shape. The transparent cover is formed from moulded glass with suitable irregularities on its upper surface to reduce reflections. The panels are more robust easier to make, to manipulate and to set up. The moulding of the glass cover minimises its reflective properties, hence reduces the glare from it and enhances its exterior aspect.
