Abstract

The ledged and braced door is fabricated from a single three-ply panel with timber rails fixed to the head and foot by glued tongue and groove joints. The panel may be of chipboard with a humidity resistant binder pref. ureaformaldehyde resin, the rails serving to reinforce the assembly the being supplemented by vertical edge members if required. Vertical or horizontal grooves or fascia patterns may be provided on either face, and ledges may be provided in the vicinity of hinge straps.
