Abstract

The unit is used for dressing grinding wheels by means of a suitable profiling wheel. This is driven by an electric motor, controlled electronically to provide variable high speed rotation in either direction. The complete unit is mounted on a base, the profiling wheel shaft (11) running in high precision sealed bearings (15). When required to change a profiling wheel (7), it is removed by unscrewing a bolt down the shaft and withdrawing this from one bearing. On replacement, the shaft is relocated into its non-mobile part remaining in the other bearing.
