Abstract

1376823 Rotary-percussive drills ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 4 Feb 1972 [5 Feb 1971] 5230/72 Heading B4C [Also in Division B3] A portable electric rotary-percussive drill comprises gears 21, 36, driven by an electric motor 15, and a bearing support 24 of sintered metal supported in the plastics casing 1, 2, at least two shafts 20, 32, being mounted in the support, and a part 34 formed integral with support 24. Shaft 32 is rotatably located for axial sliding movement in support 24 and carries a gear wheel 36 which meshes with a pinion 21 on shaft 20. A nut 39 is screwed on to shaft 32 and a spring 40 urges the shaft so that a collar 41 engages a bearing 37. A toothed disc or recess 35 on wheel 36 co-acts with toothed disc 34 integral with support 24 so that as rotating shaft 32 is urged to the right, Fig. 1, the toothed discs 34, 35, provide a percussive action. With spring 40 fully compressed by nut 39 the toothed recesses are forced into engagement and the tool does not then have a percussive action, but is purely rotary. In a modification, instead of a split casing 1, 2, the casing is formed of longitudinal sections of plastics material (101), (103), (105), 107, Fig. 3 (not shown).
